Moog GAT reduces hazardous waste

Moog GAT employees removing the hazardous substance labels that are no longer required

Moog GAT GmbH has introduced two new cooling lubricants for the manufacture of all components of its products in order to comply with the stricter EU limits for hazardous substances. In addition to a drastic reduction in waste, this has also led to lower costs for the company and better environmental compatibility.

We also received praise from our business partner for waste oil processing for being one of only two companies that follows and handles the classification of waste to be processed so strictly.

Since the limit values were changed in January 2023, Moog GAT has selected and tested a range of alternative cooling lubricants for use throughout production. The successful substitution completely eliminates the critical hazardous substance boric acid and the plant no longer has to declare the emulsion as hazardous waste. One of the two new cooling lubricants has the additional advantage that it preserves the machine parts better. Corrosion protection oil can therefore be almost completely eliminated from our production as an additional hazardous substance.
