Moog GAT supports earthquake research

Seismic diagram with Moog GAT ROTOKOMBI

Our rotary unions and slip rings are needed for geotechnical centrifuges which are used to conduct model tests to study geotechnical problems such as the strength, stiffness and capacity of foundations for bridges and buildings, stability of slopes, tunnels and seawalls.
After a real earthquake, most of the interesting data is rapidly cleared away before engineers have an opportunity to adequately study the failure modes. Centrifuge modeling is a great method to simulate an earthquake without risking the safety of the public. It provides data to improve the understanding of basic mechanisms of deformation and failure.
